Throwback Thursday

I was reading Facebook and my attention was caught by a post my friend Amanda Belliston left and it reminded me of this little adventure I had with Ashley.
When Cortney and Ashley were little they loved to play hide and seek. We lived in a two story town house with three rooms upstairs and plenty of places to hide. And the rules were always changing, like the fact they would play without telling mommy. And being pregnant with Britt, those two little girls wore me out!
Well, one day they started a game while mommy was outside hanging out laundry. When I finished and went inside I noticed Cortney was sitting in front of the TV watching her favorite cartoon at the time. I didn't think anything of it and decided to check my email. A while later I noticed it was kind of quiet and went to see what Ashley was up to. She was three and I didn't want her getting into anything -  but I could not find her.
I looked everywhere. I checked under the stairs, in the closets, and nothing. I didn't know what to do. Cortney had not seen her. I noticed the front door was unlocked and I started panicking. Cortney had taken a bike ride around the complex just three weeks ago without telling anyone and I thought for sure Ashley did the same thing, minus the bike. She didn't know how to ride, even with training wheels.
I went down to the end of the circle, Mignon's Johnson's house, to see if Ash was there. The kids often went down to play.
 No Ashley.
I walked around the complex, in front and in back and still no Ashley. Twenty minutes had passed since I started looking outside. I started to cry. I knew I had to call the police so I headed home since we didn't have a cell phone.
(yeah, life was rough back then!)
I prayed all the way home, hoping for guidance to know what to do. I had to go upstairs to use the phone because the one downstairs was lost, as usual.
(Even then, they loved the phone!)
I dropped the phone on the floor beside the bed and went to pick it up and guess what I found under the bed, fast asleep, not a care in the world?
I had been stressing out for the last half hour wondering where my little one had gone and she was safely stashed underneath my bed! I was so happy and so mad at the same time! I went to Mignon's house and gathered Cortney  and then headed home. After telling Travis what had happened, I woke my little angel up and found out they were playing hide and seek and Cortney got distracted by the TV. Ashley said she heard me calling her name but didn't say anything because she was didn't want to get caught. I informed them that there would be no more hide and seek for at least a week and then under the bed was off limits!
Thank goodness I dropped that phone! Thank goodness prayers are answered.
