-Sister Millett taught the hover craft class! The kids made them by using recycled cds and glueing a water bottle onto the opening, attached a balloon, and then blew the balloon up. The boys tried them on the carpet, tile, and then finally in the cultural hall. We had to get special permission to use a small corner because the gym was set up of a stake conference. It was a big success!
-Bro Ross taught the pressure class! This one was the most fun while sitting class! Experiments like blowing into a bag, sucking an egg into a bottle, blowing up a balloon in a bottle, and my favorite, using a leaf blower to unwind a whole roll of toilet paper! Awesome, cool, boy stuff that were really science experiments in disguise!
-Sis Beames taught the paper rocket class. Oh my gosh, I have never seen so many different and colorful rockets! They were so cool and the boys each got to shoot them off! Travis made them a few weeks ago and we have had so much fun experimenting with them, except I was not very fond of climbing the roof to retrieve them. (but Joey was, lol) This class always ran late. Too much fun!!!
-Bro and Sis Beatty were in charge of our astronomy class! They had a slide presentation! It was great. and then the kids got to pretend to be a planet and used toilet paper to mark how far they were from the sun. Great idea! The boys really enjoyed the class!
-Sis Hassell taught the Ziploc ice cream class. This was a big hit! Nothing is better than making homemade ice cream and eating it too! We tried to make secret messages with lemon juice, but it failed. But it was the funnest failure I have had in a while. We spent the whole day trying to figure out how to make it work! And it was a great lesson in science camp - not all experiments work!
The Cooper ward leaders were in charge of center of gravity and optical illusions! So much fun! the boys had to stand with their cheeks against the wall and try to move other body parts. So cool!
-Bro and Sister Brady from the Silvergate park ward were our last teachers and they jumped in at the last moment because the teacher who was supposed to do it had a family emergency! The topic was physics, not an easy one buy they did a great job! The boys learned a lot! And had some fun too!
President Millett and Bro Cosseboom were the last to hand out the neckerchiefs to the boys. Great way to end the day!
I am so glad it is over and I have a whole year to plan the next one. But I gotta say I could not have done it without the help of our wonderful scout leaders who followed along with the boys and for those that taught the classes. They are the true heros of our little event! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
