More Pics of Prom

These are some of the pictures Shesten took before prom. She did an awesome job! She always does!

Spring Sing 2014

Last night was our spring sing at Franklin. The kids were wonderful! And Mr. Higgins only got mad at us once for being disruptive. I think he is mellowing out! It was a great night. And Joey behaved himself! He did not dance, fly, snap or twirl and only clapped at the appropriate time. My little man is growing up! Truthfully, I kind of miss those days when he was trying to get attention on the stage. Maybe I should talk him into pursuing drama instead of band.... He would be good at it!
My Mackenzie!

Had to throw this one in. She has that deer in the headlights look! lol!!!

 The third and fourth grade.

Our friend Luke Hagen playing his clarinet.

Luke and Joey in the same shot. (Joey is standing on a riser, lol!)

Joey's new life ambition

Joey has changed his life goal. He now wants to be the computer tech teacher at Franklin East Elementary.
It's because they get more orange chicken and they sometimes get cake.
And he likes computers!
That's my son, basing the rest of his whole life on his stomach! And his obsession with everything computers!
I am so proud!

Cub Scout Day Camp 2014 - Taking Flight

Saturday! What a day! Cub scout day camp, Taking Flight, was a great success! And I am so glad it is over! But it was a lot of fun!
-Sister Millett taught the hover craft class! The kids made them by using recycled cds and glueing a water bottle onto the opening, attached a balloon, and then blew the balloon up. The boys tried them on the carpet, tile, and then finally in the cultural hall. We had to get special permission to use a small corner because the gym was set up of a stake conference. It was a big success!
-Bro Ross taught the pressure class! This one was the most fun while sitting class! Experiments like blowing into a bag, sucking an egg into a bottle, blowing up a balloon in a bottle, and my favorite, using a leaf blower to unwind a whole roll of toilet paper! Awesome, cool, boy stuff that were really science experiments in disguise!

-Sis Beames taught the paper rocket class. Oh my gosh, I have never seen so many different and colorful rockets! They were so cool and the boys each got to shoot them off! Travis made them a few weeks ago and we have had so much fun experimenting with them, except I was not very fond of climbing the roof to retrieve them. (but Joey was, lol) This class always ran late. Too much fun!!!

-Bro and Sis Beatty were in charge of our astronomy class! They had a slide presentation! It was great. and then the kids got to pretend to be a planet and used toilet paper to mark how far they were from the sun. Great idea! The boys really enjoyed the class!

-Sis Hassell taught the Ziploc ice cream class. This was a big hit! Nothing is better than making homemade ice cream and eating it too! We tried to make secret messages with lemon juice, but it failed. But it was the funnest failure I have had in a while. We spent the whole day trying to figure out how to make it work! And it was a great lesson in science camp - not all experiments work!

The Cooper ward leaders were in charge of center of gravity and optical illusions! So much fun! the boys had to stand with their cheeks against the wall and try to move other body parts. So cool!

-Bro and Sister Brady from the Silvergate park ward were our last teachers and they jumped in at the last moment because the teacher who was supposed to do it had a family emergency! The topic was physics, not an easy one buy they did a great job! The boys  learned a lot! And had some fun too!

President Millett and Bro Cosseboom were the last to hand out the neckerchiefs to the boys. Great way to end the day!

I am so glad it is over and I have a whole year to plan the next one. But I gotta say I could not have done it without the help of our wonderful scout leaders who followed along with the boys and for those that taught the classes. They are the true heros of our little event! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Prom 2014

Crazy week! So much going on but I need to get to the important stuff first so Ashley will see this tomorrow.

 Prom!
Britt and Danni spent the day getting ready. People came to do hair, make up, and a lot of goofing off before the big event! They both looked beautiful! I am so proud of both of them! They went in a group of five couples and they started the evening off at my house!

Our friend Shesten took pictures and we will post them as soon as we get them.

They ate at Oreganos after waiting in line for an hour and a half. (I think next time we will feed them... If they let us)
I will make Joey their waiter...then again, that idea might be flawed a little! lol

They didn't get home until after 1 am. I had ward conference the next day but it was worth not getting any sleep to hear how her night was!
Thank goodness the next dance is 6 months and a new school year away! Personally I could use some down time!

Can't sleep again. That darn bolero Jacket is giving me nightmares! And to think it was a simple pattern! It probably is and I am slowly loosing my mind! I may finish it just to burn the darn thing!!!! In the meantime it is on the back burner. Not the smartest idea since you can ignite the back burner with one swift turn of a knob! Oh, well.
Mostly I am thinking of Ashley and how grateful I am there are angels put into her path to help and guide her. For the members who are helping her as well as the Elders in her district who go out of their way to assist when the Sisters are in a jam. My mom says the Elders take the sisters under their wings and protect them and I am grateful for that. Ashley says she has never seen that kind of charity and goodness from any Elders before. Awesome but kind of sad too. Food for thought when Zach gets up there.
I am also grateful for my other kids who keep me busy with homework, tall tales of daring do (scary, looking over my shoulder, hoping no one else sees and calls the police kind of daring dos), nerf gun battles that are quite amusing, homework nightmares that only teachers and Principals can dream of, shopping sprees where spending $1.50 is pure enjoyment! And for getting into the van only to jump out of my seat as I turn it on and am welcomed by loud, bass beating music that literally takes a few years off my life! And did I mention homework? I think I shall give myself the 'Most Creative Way to Get your Kid to Actually Do His Homework' award. But then your kid would actually have to do his homework in order to get that prestigious award. So, never mind.
But they make me smile and want to do it all over again the next day!
While I am at it, I am grateful for my husband who does put up with me and my odd ways. He would do anything for me, except maybe mow the lawn, but anything else I ask for he is there!
Now I think I am going to try to sleep a little more before the battle for piano practice begins and I need my strength to fight that fight! It's just as bad as homework!

I spent the afternoon at the temple with my sisters. It was wonderful! But I have decided I think I prefer the Mesa temple over the Gilbert. The same wonderful things happen at both but there is something about being in your home building that makes the experience so much sweeter! The Gilbert temple is beautiful, magnificent, and amazing but it is not the Mesa one!

Prom Dresses

Well, we went with Tami to Gilbert to pick out dresses for Danni and Britt. Danni liked the first one she tried on but Britt was not so lucky. No, she liked three that she tried on! And narrowing them down to only one was so hard.
We went to a place where you put $50 down and then they are asking the borrowers to fix the dresses up, 'mormonize' them, or make them modest. If we can't, after we dry clean them, we only get $40 back. We can alter them how we see fit. Love this idea!
Anyway, Britt brought home the dress she decided on and then promptly tried on a dress that she has had hanging around that she borrowed a few months back from a friend. And guess what? She liked that one better! So now I have this dress I am supposed to alter, get dry cleaned, and then take back. I signed a contract and everything!
Then sweet Rylee came over to help Britt decide what to do with her hair. And, great news! She has been asked to prom too! We asked what she was wearing and she said she didn't know yet. And, Ashley inspired me to have her try it on and see if she liked it! (I was writing her at the time so I am giving her credit for my wonderful idea) It fit! She loved it! So now I am going to make her a jacket to go with it, something I was going to do anyway. And then she will get it dry cleaned (I won't have to clean a clean dress!) and I will have met my contract! Yes! She saved my neck! And she got a free dress out of it! So everyone is happy, except I have to sew and my confidence is not what is used to be. Where is Ashley when I need her? (I know, in a better place, doing better things than holding her mama's hand...But I can still wish!)
So, with Cub Scout Day Camp lurking around the corner (the same day as prom), jackets to make for prom (two), ward conference with Kingsborough the day after (still working on Sharing Time) it is proving to be an awesome, busy week! Bring it on!

The dress Britt picked that is now Rylee's

Her second choice, mostly for the back. lol

Third choice. looks like this girl will be busy next year. lol

Danni knew what she wanted! Good Danni!

My favorite. Looked great but she could not lift her arms and she is too short and Jacob is too tall for this poor dress. Didn't have a chance!

Britt's shoes. I bet Ashley is so jealous right about now!

(Yes, Ash, we are sending you pics of the rest.)
